After more than five years, the criminal proceedings involved Rino Foschi, a historic sports director and former president of Palermo, accused of disfamation against Mauro Balata, former president of the League B. The Court of Rome, V Penal Section, with Judge Elena Scozzarella, acquitted Foschi with the formula "because the fact does not constitute a crime". The decision concerns some statements issued in February 2021 on the events involving Palermo in 2019.
