Benfica, Prestianni suspended for alleged racist insults to Vinicius:…
News: Mourinho’s Benfica player was disqualified for violating Article 14 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR), relating to discriminatory behaviour. The Argentine was suspended for exchanging words with Vinicius Jr, the Real Madrid striker, during the first leg of the playoff. The Brazilian immediately runs to the referee, pointing to the opposing player, making it clear that he has received racist insults. The sanction came despite Prestianni’s clear denial, who categorically denies having directed racist insults at Vinicius, who allegedly misinterpreted what he said to him. This was not enough according to UEFA, with the class of 2006 seeing the possibility of playing the second leg of the Champions League playoffs disappear.
