Calvarese analyzes Palermo-Juve Stabia: “Both penalties were correct”
News: On his website CalVAR. it, former referee Gianpaolo Calvarese analyzed the key episodes of Palermo-Juve Stabia, focusing in particular on the two penalty kicks awarded, one for each side. The analysis starts from the first penalty, awarded to Juve Stabia for a contact between the Rosanero goalkeeper and the opposing attacker: «The first is for the Campania team and is awarded on the pitch by the referee from L'Aquila for a contact between Joronen, the Rosanero goalkeeper, and Okoro. The visiting player anticipates the Finnish goalkeeper; Joronen misses the save, then realizes it and tries to retract his arms, but there is contact between his elbow and Okoro's left foot, a foul contact. It must be said that from the field it is impossible to understand the precise dynamics, indeed the impression is that the goalkeeper takes the ball clearly, given that the ball itself goes upwards. From frame by frame, however, it seems that Bani arrives with a header first and then Confente's glove, which takes the head and the ball: therefore the penalty kick is correct."
