De Laurentiis thunders: “Small cities shouldn't have teams in Serie A”
News: Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli, gave an interview to The Athletic in which he expressed his point of view on the structure of the main championships, focusing in particular on Serie A. “You can't have a team from a small town with 50,000 inhabitants. Why should broadcasters pay so much for matches like this?” he said. De Laurentiis then added: “Juventus, Inter, Milan, Napoli and Roma will always compete for trophies or a place in Europe, while ten other teams fight not to be relegated. To stay at this level you have to have at least a million fans: if you have 100,000 or 200,000, you have to be in another league."
