Palermo wants to play its game for Euro 2032. Mayor Roberto Lagalla, in Rome at the conference "Il Sud in Europa: Palermo F. C., history of popular participation", reiterated the ambitions of the city and the work done for the candidacy also linked to the future of the stadium Renzo Barbera. "The initiative today pays tribute to a city, Palermo, and to a community that in sport, and in particular in football, has always been able to express an extraordinary capacity for participation, belonging and passion. I thank the Honorable Carolina Varchi for having promoted this meeting and for having wanted to bring to the center of the national debate the history and path of Palermo FC, a story that belongs not only to a sports company, but to an entire city". Lagalla stressed the institutional collaboration built around the project: "I thank President Renato Schifani and the Regional Government, with whom we have shared, from the beginning, the will to transform a hope into a concrete project. And I thank the Palermo FC and the City Group for the commitment and effort they are carrying out together with the institutions". «In 2022 it seemed little more than a hope» The mayor traced the origin of the route undertaken by the city: "When we started this challenge in 2022, the stadium seemed little more than hope.
