Free agent transfer market, when it starts and when it
The summer transfer window officially closed on 1 September 2026 at 8pm, but an important window remains open for Serie B (and non-Serie B) teams to strengthen the squad. This is the market for free agents, i. e. those players who are not bound by a contract and who can therefore be registered even outside the ordinary session. A particularly interesting possibility for companies that, after the closure of the market, find gaps in certain departments or need to intervene due to injuries and unavailability. For the 2026/27 season, the FIGC has established that Serie A and Serie B clubs can file the registration requests of professional footballers with the previous relationship having expired or terminated within the deadlines set from 29 June 2026 to 31 March 2027. Consequently, the free agent market will remain open for several months after the conclusion of the summer session.
