Gazzetta del Sud: “Hostile climate against Catanzaro, clarity is…
News: According to the two councillors, "a hostile climate was deliberately created around the match, fomented on social media", which then resulted in several episodes of tension. In fact, La Gazzetta del Sud reports the reference to the firecrackers exploding in front of the hotel that hosted Catanzaro, to the throwing of objects and paper bombs at the end of the match and to the events that occurred in the grandstand involving the families of sporting director Polito and coach Alberto Aquilani. Scarpino and Costa however specified that "90% of the Palermo fans cannot be compared to the troublemakers who caused the climate of tension". In their speech, reported by the Gazzetta del Sud, the two councilors then criticized some reconstructions circulated after the race: "It is not acceptable that we try to accredit imaginative versions that are very far from the truth." Finally, Scarpino and Costa defined Catanzaro and its fans as "champions of loyalty, correctness and respect for their opponents", hoping that the Federal Prosecutor's Office can shed full light on all the episodes that occurred at "Barbera".
