"History pushes Palermo into a memorable challenge"
"One of the great classics of Italian football, between two teams 'confined' to Serie B after having dueled on both sides of the top division." Thus writes Alessandro Arena, who on the pages of the Giornale di Sicilia analyzes the precedents between Palermo and Sampdoria. This evening will be the thirty-seventh match at the "Barbera". The balance within the friendly walls smiles on the rosanero, who have only lost four times. The most significant match between Palermo and Sampdoria was naturally that of 9 May 2010, the penultimate matchday of Serie A with the Blucerchiati fourth and the Rosanero fifth: a victory would have earned them overtaking and almost certain qualification for the Champions League, but instead Delio Rossi's team did not go beyond 1 – 1 and had to settle for the Europa League.
