News: Serious mourning in Palermo and throughout the world of football. The former sporting director of Palermo, Nicola Salerno, has passed away at the age of 69. A highly experienced manager who passed away today, Sunday 1 February. Salerno had held the role of sporting director of Palermo in the 2016/17 season, which culminated in a bitter relegation to the Serie B championship. In addition to the rosanero, the former sporting director had also worked for clubs such as Messina, Catania, Cagliari and Foggia.
