Palermo between elimination and history: it all depends on a comeback…
News: Never has a team down three goals after the first match reversed the semi-final and the same goes for the final. In 2021, for example, Monza, overwhelmed 3 – 0 by Cittadella in the first leg semi-final, came very close to the return leg: the Brianza team won 2 – 0. However, when the deficit to recover is two goals, the history of the Serie B playoffs tells very different scenarios. For Palermo there will therefore be no middle ground. If the pinks were to be eliminated, it would make little difference to go out after having only come close to achieving the feat or after a new collapse even upon returning in front of their own fans.
