News: GdS – Palermo, finishing in fourth place can prove successful in the playoffs. As Salvatore Orifici highlights in the Giornale di Sicilia, since the post-season was expanded to eight teams, fourth place has proven surprisingly successful. The numbers speak for themselves: five times out of twelve it was the fourth-placed team that won the play-offs. The historical data is also curious: in the first three editions with the new format, teams that always finished fourth, from Cesena to Bologna to Pescara, always moved up. A statistic that over the years has also been confirmed by Monza (2022) and Cremonese, last in order of time, capable of imposing itself in the final against Spezia. Inzaghi's Palermo fits into this scenario, currently stable in fourth place.
