Sampdoria sporting director Americo Branco intervenes after the 3-1 defeat against Palermo at the Renzo Barbera and draws attention to Marchetti's refereeing direction, focusing in particular on Antonio Palumbo's failure to send off for a foul on Henderson. "We want a bit of respect for Sampdoria," says Branco, who makes no excuses for the result and recognizes the merits of the rosanero: "We know well what Palermo represents, but we know also what Sampdoria is. We didn't lose because of the referee, but because we didn't score a goal, but in some moments of the match he shifted the balance and made the team nervous." Branco: «We want to understand what the rules of engagement are» The Sampdoria manager then focuses attention on the disciplinary management of the match and on the episode involving Palumbo and Henderson. «These are episodes that show a lack of respect towards us. We came here to play openly despite the difficulties and we want to understand what the rules of engagement are." Branco also reports the difficulties encountered by the Sampdoria players in communicating with the match referee: «Our players told me that they couldn't talk to him.
