News: Palermo, the Region will also participate in the redevelopment of the Barbera. The Schifani government will participate in the financing of the renovation works of the Renzo Barbera stadium in Palermo in view of the 2032 European championships that the city is bidding to host. The commitment was formalized today during an institutional meeting at Palazzo d'Orléans between the president of the Region, Renato Schifani, and the mayor of Palermo. The project, which includes not only the renovation of the sports facility but also the redevelopment of the surrounding area, involves a total investment of approximately 300 million euros, the financial coverage of which will be guaranteed by a public-private partnership. More than half of the amount will be made available directly by the Palermo Calcio club, while the remaining part will be paid by the Region, the Municipality and the State. The entire financing framework must be defined and perfected by the month of May, while the project must be sent to UEFA by 31 July, which will verify its compliance with the required criteria and technical standards.
