News: Palermo, there is a need for new blood on the bench. The start of the summer transfer window is still two weeks away, but Palermo's strategy is already outlined: on the one hand, a new addition to each department to strengthen the starting eleven, on the other, a significant restoration of the second lines, whose performance in the last two seasons has constituted a real ballast on the squad's top flight ambitions. Already a year ago the management had tried to patch up the difficulties of the reserves sector, focusing both on the confirmation of players who had a leading role in 2024/25 (Gomes, Blin, Vasic) and on the addition of profiles with the potential to make an impact along the way and the personality to redesign Inzaghi's hierarchies (Veroli, Giovane, Corona and partly Gyasi). The experiment turned out to be a boomerang: despite Inzaghi being fourth among Serie B coaches in terms of number of substitutions made (186), Palermo finished in penultimate place in terms of goals from substitutes, at 6 with Reggiana and Cesena (only Entella was worse with two), and in 15th in the sum of goals and assists, finishing with 13.
