Matteo Marchetti, from the Ostia Lido section, will be the designated referee for Palermo – Sampdoria, scheduled for Monday 7 September at the Barbera stadium for the 3rd matchday of Serie B. Completing the designation: Mondin and Fontani as assistants, Feliciani as fourth official. At Var there will be Volpi, with Paterna as Avar. Matteo Marchetti's record with the Sicilians is anything but positive. Palermo has lost two out of three times with Marchetti on the pitch: against Juve Stabia (1-0) in November 2025, against Reggiana (2-1) in January 2025 and against Frosinone (1-1) in November 2024.
